This is not only convenient, but, more important, a crucial safety factor. The compact Thrane Iridium SC4000 consists of only three units: the antenna SA4110, the transceiver ST4120 and the intelligent handset SC4150 - intelligent, because it is a combined handset and control unit.

It can operate with as many as four handsets, makint it possible to use the system anyhere on board, or in a fixed site land installation.
